Thank you for taking the time to visit Easy And Tasty Food, a relatively new food recipe blog (b. 2/18/2009) which offers simple, easy, home-style, healthy (usually) recipes that I have collected, developed and cooked for the past 30 years.
Who am I? Judy Cheske (email: judy@easyandtastyfood.com), single mom to 2 teenagers and resident of Oak Park, IL (a suburb of Chicago).
My earliest food memory is when I was 3 years old and I took a spaghetti noodle from dinner, went out in front of our house, and placed the noodle on the sidewalk, expecting it to come to life like a worm. Didn’t happen. I poked it with a stick. Still nothing.
That first food experiment was a bit of a disappointment but I’ve probably always been fascinated by the magic of food; the transformation of ingredients continues to fascinate me.
As a busy single mom with 2 kids, I have developed short-cuts and simplified many common recipes. Really, I am a lazy impatient cook who prefers recipes with commonly available ingredients and short prep times, usually within a half an hour, rarely more than an hour (but no promises there).
Some other qualities you’ll find here:
- Eclectic ethnic origins and types of recipes.
- I use fresh ingredients whenever possible, but I live in Chicago where the growing season is short and so resort to dried, canned and frozen ingredients as needed.
- I avoid prepared foods as much as possible, but as long as the ingredients list is not too scary, I will include pre-packaged time-savers.
- Not much seafood… sorry… I have issues with dead fish but I do have a sauteed scallops recipe I’ll add one of these days.
Like any good recipe, this blog is an experiment in the making and all comments are welcome. You can comment directly on a recipe or email me: judy@easyandtastyfood.com.

Definitely love the mantra of your site Judy… we’re all crunched for time and like to cook healthy food, but also value my time with friends and family… great way to find balance from the recipes I see here.
Thanks!
Thanks Dustin - that’s exactly what I aiming for but not sure if it was coming through.
