Homemade BBQ Sauce
There’s something empowering about making your own BBQ sauce. I’ve always been pretty happy with many commercially prepared BBQ sauces but I always wanted to make my own. This is a tangy BBQ sauce that’s super quick to make and has a fresh and spicy flavor. The fresh non-prepared flavor is definitely worth the ten minutes of prep time to make this delicious sauce.
I noticed that most BBQ recipes have some combination of tomato, sugar, vinegar and spice, so I tried a few variations and developeed this recipe, which works well with chicken or beef. It’s simple but rich and tangy; not too sweet, not too hot; make adjustments as you see fit.
- Tomato Sauce - 1 15-oz. can
- Mustard - 2 Tblsp., brown
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 3 Tblsp.
- Brown Sugar - 3 Tblsp.
- Worcestershire Sauce - 1 Tblsp.
- Tabasco - 1 Tblsp (I used Chipotle pepper Tabasco sauce)
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, chopped finely
- Salt - 1/2 tsp.
- Black Pepper - 1/4 tsp.
Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and blend well. Use immediately or refrigerate for later use.
